Picture Of WB-7 Fusion Test Reactor Available

There is a picture up at EMC2 Fusion showing the WB-7 Test Reactor vessel. All polished stainless steel with a nice logo.

Mmm. Shiny. Good luck to them (and to all of us).

I sure wish information would come out a bit faster though! :)

Don't we all!

Is it actually stainless?
As they are going to be creating powerful magnetic fields inside it they dont want the field lines attaching to the container as this would form a loss-path for the recirculating electron flux.
It might be better to make it from a material that can't hold a magnetic field.
So I think it might be polished Aluminium alloy.
Whatever it is made of, it is surely a most impressive piece of kit and like everyone else I cant wait to hear some real results!

There are stainless alloys that are non magnetic. Try it on your stainless silverware some time.

Stainless is better because of its high strength compared to Aluminum.
